Robert Williams & Susannah Tindall
(Click photo for full view)
When Robert's parents (John & Sarah) moved to Bargo it seems he stayed on with his grandmother at Castlereagh which was near Parramatta/Nepean districts. When he was age 20, in 1834, he married Susanah Tindall. They had seven sons and eight daughters.

Sometime between
1835 & 1858 they moved to the Cooma district. Probably in
1844 after his grandmother Maria Williams (nee Haynes) died.
In 1862 they moved to the Bega district where he was a farmer. At
age 66 on 16/9/1880 he died of heart disease. He was buried at
Bega by the Church of England minister. Subsequently, the head
stone was moved a short distance to the existing cemetery to
permit the construction of a school on the grave site. However,
his body was not moved and Robert still lies beneath that school.
One of Robert & Susanah's sons was named John who is the
direct link in our family. Let's call him John (2nd). He was born
at Penrith, or Nepean as it was then know, in 1835, the exact
date is not known. It is likely he accompanied his parents from
Nepean to Numerella and Cooma.
He is the third generation Australian in our family.
