Donnybrook Marathon Relay

Starts: 10:30 am, Ayres Garden, SW Highway, Donnybrook
Register between 9:00 - 10:15 am on the dayLocation: Donnybrook is 200 km south of Perth and 35 km from Bunbury. It is surrounded by farms, forests and orchards. The picturesque course is undulating.
The Race: This is a relay race consisting of:
- 34 km cycle,
- 7 km canoe,
- 1.4 km swim,
- 20 km mountain bike ride,
- 8.5 km power walk,
- 12.1 km run.
Course Description: From Donnybrook the course for the cyclist winds its way towards the tavern at Mumballup then left at the Collie turnoff to Glen Mervyn Dam. The canoe leg and swim are on the dam. The mountain bike rider then goes on a circuitous track around the dam and back down toYabberup Hall, where the power walker joins the main road towards Donnybrook as far as Trevena Road. The runner returns to Donnybrook, the Recreation Centre, via the main road.
Mostly teams participate: families and friends, corporate, schools, football clubs, but it is open to "iron persons" as well. To date usually about 100 persons participate in this event.
There is a lunchtime break between the canoe and swim legs of the relay.
In 2000 the total prize money was $2500. There is a prize for the first local team as well.
Entry: teams - $92-40, school teams - $66, iron persons - $55 (2002)
