Format
A rare foray into the game show genre by Australia's multicultural broadcaster - "RocKwiz" takes the pub-style music trivia nights to a national audience. This is a no-holes barred, grungy, brain versus brain contest between two teams of three, each anchored by a well-known music performer. The show is actually recorded in a real pub ("The Esplanade" in Melbourne) and plys its patrons for both contestants and audience members.
There are several rounds - each taking on a different theme. Score updates are not provided by a digital readout - instead a burly bloke holds the progressive scores up on coloured cards. Audience participation is not discouraged, and Brian Nankervis the adjudicator/question writer won't let correctness get in the way of pure entertainment.
The key to this show is the "fun factor", that everyone has a good time, and enjoys live performances from the featured performers and resident band.
A truly original, entertaining format for those who love their music and love their trivia.
