CYCLING 4 NATIONAL PARKS

Sunday, 17 June 2012, 60 km, Grade: hilly

Start: 10 am start from Kalamunda Library

Meet in front of Kalamunda Library on Railway Parade at 10 am for a ride on roads passing Gooseberry Hill National Park, Greenmount National Park, John Forrest National Park, Mundaring Weir and Kalamunda National Park. INDEPENDENCE DAY RIDE

Start: 9:30am from Concert Hall car park

RIDE TO QUINNS ROCK

Sunday, 29 July 2012   60 km   Hilly

Start: 9:00 am from Warwick Train Station

Meet at the Warwick Train Station at 9.00 am for a longish and reasonably hard ride to Quinns Rock.  We will stop for morning tea on the way back at either Mindarie or Burns Beach. We should arrive back at the Warwick Train Station around mid day. Ring John on 9447 8939 if you are interested in taking part.


A WAY LESS TRAVELLED

Sunday 12 August 2012   60 kms   Grade: Easy

Start: 9:30am from the Bull Creek Train Station

Come along and explore some underutilized cycle paths and quiet roads in the south east corridor of the metropolitan area.  Connecting from the Kwinana Freeway bike path through Willetton to the Roe Highway bike path, we will continue to the railway bike path at Kenwick.  Further along at Gosnells we take the Tonkin Highway cycle path down to Forrestdale where we proceed further southwards on quite back roads before turning due west to Wellard and our lunch destination in Kwinana.  Following lunch, head straight back to the train station for a comfortable return journey.  Call or SMS Hilary for details 0405 427 246     

THIRST FOR THE LAST DROP

Sunday 26 August 2012   50 km         Grade: Easy

Start: 9.30am from Concert Hall car park

Proceeding from the City, the ride travels southwards along the Freeway Cycle Path until we reach the Kwinana Train Station.  (Alternatively, you can elect to join the ride as we pass by the various train stations up until Kwinana.  Please advise me if you intend exercising this option.)  The ride will then wend its way on quiet back roads across to the coast where it follows a route along the sea shore through Rockingham and Safety Bay until we reach our lunch destination at the Last Drop Tavern, Currie St, Waikiki.  Returning to Perth on the train with your bike is easy with the Warnbro Railway Station only 2.5 kms from the hotel.  Call Trevor on 9345 1048 or 040 202 9608 for details.

Start: 9:30 am from Kalamunda

Meet at the car park of the Kalamunda Historic Village for a ride up and down the hills behind Kalamunda.  We will have morning tea along the way at the Packing Shed and if the hills have really got you going then we could also have a reviving coffee and cake when we get back to Kalamunda.  For more information contact Jeremy on 9272 2127.

A DIFFERENT CIRCUIT OF THE SWAN RIVER

Sunday 21 October 2012   40 km       Grade: Flat

Start: 10.00am from Guildford Train Station

Assemble in the James Street forecourt car park of the Guildford Train Station (town side) for a different circuit of the Swan River.  Firstly we’ll head back towards the City along the north side river path before crossing over to the south side via the Causeway.  This southern side river path leads us back past the equestrian properties bordering Ascot to our lunch destination at the Woodbridge Tavern in Guildford.  The ride concludes with an easy connect after lunch back to either East Guildford or Guildford Train Stations.  Call Trevor on 9345 1048 or 040 202 9608 for details.
