CYCLING 4 PLEASURE organises interesting and enjoyable cycling
events for recreational and touring cyclists. All events are strictly non-competitive
and conducted at a leisurely pace so that there is time for sightseeing
and socialising as well as cycling.
-
DAY RIDES - Day rides are usually held every alternative Sunday,
to places of interest or scenic destinations. Typically distances are 30
to 40 km for half day rides to 50 to 60 km for full day rides. We usually
stop for morning tea or lunch during the ride, or take along a BBQ or picnic
lunch to eat at the destination.
-
EVENING RIDES - In summer, we conduct evening rides to a special
event or for a light meal. Front and rear lights are essential on evening
rides and we also recommend reflective vests.
-
WEEKENDS AWAY - Two or three times per year, usually on long weekends,
we drive to a scenic country town, and spend the weekend cycling around
the area. Accommodation is usually in cottages, a youth hostel or hotel,
although we sometimes camp at a caravan park, or camp-ground.
-
TOURS - Once or twice per year, we organise tours, staying in various
country towns along the way. Accommodation may be in various hotels/youth
hostels or camping. For camping tours, we usually arrange a support vehicle
to carry camping gear. On other tours, each rider carries their own clothes
etc. in pannier bags on their bike. The duration of tours ranges from two
days to a week or more.
RIDES PROGRAMME - We mail out a rides programme every two months,
giving details of all rides and news on future tours and weekends away.
For each ride, we include a contact phone number or the ride leader.
