LATEST MYC NEWS

The 2008-2009 Season is Officially Underway
Despite fine weather and a moderate sea breeze, Opening Day at MYC on Sunday, October 12, failed to attract big numbers. This was a little disappointing in the wake of super efforts put in at club Busy Bees to make sure everything was shipshape for the big day.

However, for those who did attend, it was a ripper day for sailing. Three  notable fastest times went to Colin Dauncey (Full Rigs), who is back at MYC after a five-year break;  past Commodore Kim Stephens (Radials), who wet the hull of his new boat for the first time; and Jack Clark-Massera (4.7s).

Commodore Peter Kerrigan welcomed guests, who included Maylands MP Lisa Baker, City of Bayswater Mayor Lou Magro, Councillors Sonia Turkington and Ian McClelland, and flag officers from downriver clubs. Club patron Terry Gaunt declared the season open.

Special thanks to Andree and Rosco Bennett, Lynne and Bert Brescianini and Lisa (birthday girl) Kerrigan who answered to calls for help from the Commodore. Thanks also to the members who provided food platters for afternoon tea. And thanks to secretary Alan Benn for producing a souvenir newsletter to mark Opening Day.

By now all 2007-2008 members
should have received an invoice for 2008-2009 Membership and paid their fees.  If you are in arrears, please attend to it promptly for the benefit of your club and fellow members. Thank you.
