The 2008-2009 Season is Officially Underway However, for those who did attend, it was a ripper day for sailing. Three notable fastest times went to Colin Dauncey (Full Rigs), who is back at MYC after a five-year break; past Commodore Kim Stephens (Radials), who wet the hull of his new boat for the first time; and Jack Clark-Massera (4.7s). Commodore Peter Kerrigan welcomed guests, who included Maylands MP Lisa Baker, City of Bayswater Mayor Lou Magro, Councillors Sonia Turkington and Ian McClelland, and flag officers from downriver clubs. Club patron Terry Gaunt declared the season open. Special thanks to Andree and Rosco Bennett, Lynne and Bert Brescianini and Lisa (birthday girl) Kerrigan who answered to calls for help from the Commodore. Thanks also to the members who provided food platters for afternoon tea. And thanks to secretary Alan Benn for producing a souvenir newsletter to mark Opening Day.
