Jiggle bells, jingle bells
A song to personify my disposition: Under the Bridge (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Wow, been a long time since my last post... and yes, there are still annoying people buying raffle tickets at my newsagency (not necessarily old either).
Anyways, went to Carols in the Domain on Saturday night. Felt really old, I think it's turning into a teeny bopper event. Though the atomosphere was joyful and celebrative, I couldn't help but feel dejected for the thousands of people around me. I kept wondering how many people actually knew what they were singing about. I was actually suprised at the some of the lyrics of the chosen songs. I expected the song choices to be a little more liberal, like "Jingle Bells", "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer", and all those other stoopid ones. These songs did make it into the programme, however the majority of the songs were still traditional ones, where the main focus is still on Jesus, rather the some fat doOd in a red suit. I can't remembe which ones, but some of the song lyrics talked about Jesus being our saviour, and redeeming us of sin etc. They even sang "Amazing Grace", it's not even a Christmas song! So, my point is its depressing cause most of the people there were just singing without knowing what they were singing about. I'm sure if they realised the implications of what they were singing about, they would think twice before they open their mouth.
However, there's one good point out of all this. At least our society has not degraded so much that public events like this have to be SOOOO politically correct that the songs sung to the public would have to be 'religiously unbiased'. Good to see there is still a hint that the major public still remember the real reason for Christmas. Whether they believe it or not is another issue all together.
