What's your bowl of lentil soup?

A song to personify my disposition: Parallel Universe (Red Hot Chili Peppers)

Had a really good long weekend at Club 5. There's something about being away with a whole bunch of super enthusiastic christians that gets you all hyped up. Then you return to the real world and it just muffles that feeling and you assimilate back into this worldly society like nothing ever happened. Maybe heaven will just be like a never ending church camp... That'd be sooooo funky...

Anyways, an interesting analogy Phillip Jensen presented was about lentil soup. Recall how Esau traded his birth right with Jocab for a bowl of soup (as far as anyone can tell, it was lentil soup, not even any meat in it!). Well, Phil's conviction to us was to look at ourselves and ask, what we were trading our right as first borns through Christ Jesus for? Be it money, non-Christian gf/bf, career, whatever it is, it has the same affect in the long run as lentil soup. ie. its all squat, nothing, fleeting... it's gonna BURN! What good was the soup when the Edomites were eventually wiped out by the Isrealites? Similarly what good is your money, career or non-Christian relationships when God sends his judgement upon the Earth?

Reflecting on that, I have lotsa soup to dish out. Let's pray that by next Club 5 I'll have less soup (yuk! I can't stand lentils!).
