Plasticize your Christian life!

A song to personify my disposition: Get Away (Avant)

Went to dinner with Young Workers group today. Whilst talking to Joostine and SM, we came up with an interesting thought. Somehow we managed to get onto the topic of asians and their insatiable habit to put platic over everything. I'm sure if ur asian you'll know what I mean. Do your parents buy a couch and never take the platic off it? Or do they buy a really nice dinning table only to put a sheet of plastic over it? Well I've surely had my share of plasticizing.

Anyways, SM said that she still hasn't taken off the plastic film that covers the screen of her mobile phone, pointing out that the reason we asian's plasticize things is to keep them as new as possible for as long as possible. Joostine then pointed out that all things of this Earth will one day perish so what's the point. This then led us to conclude that instead of plasticizing our material items, we should be plasticizing things that will endure for all eternity. Hence we should plasticize our Christian life!

We all had a good laugh and ended at that. But this has prompted me to think, it s very true, we SHOULD plasticize our Christian life. Trying to keep it as new as possible for as long as possible. I myself am guilty of being a laid back seasoned Christian. I find that sometimes once we've been a Christian for many many years we tend to slack off and the zeal that was once there as a new Christian fades away. The plastic newness of that newby Christian has been torn off and the Christian begins to show signs of wear and tear.

So, wrap yourselves in the Holy Spirit and regain that glowing newness and zeal, because it our walk with God is the only thing that endures forever!

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
